Clos Figueras
Priorat, Catalonia
In 1997, with his wife Charlotte, Christopher Cannan purchased Clos Figueras, an 18 hectares estate, just to the north of the reputed village of Gratallops in the heart of the best production zone of Spain's Priorat DOQ. The soil here is the famous “llicorella” or schist that is the secret behind the distinctive mineral flavours that ranks the Priorat with the world’s greatest wines. Planted with the local Garnacha and Cariñena, with a dose of Syrah, Mourvedre and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wines of Clos Figueras convey all the distinctive charm and personality of the Priorat with great finesse and exceptional elegance. The international wine press was quick to recognize the unique characteristics and world class stature of the estate.

Today Christopher is guided with the advice of Alain Graillot, famous for his superb Syrah based wines in the Rhône Valley of France. Apart from the acclaimed red wines, the estate also produces an outstanding white wine, mostly from the Viognier grape; additionally a magnificent olive oil from the Arbequina variety with the DOP Siurana.
