Álvaro Espinoza is one of the finest winemakers in South America today, as well as one of the foremost biodynamic winemakers in the world. Our celebrated wine Antiyal is often referred to as Chile's first “garage wine.” We produce fewer than 400 cases per year. We also produce Kuyen, which Álvaro refers to as his “baby Antiyal.”


In the local Mapuche language, Calcu means "magician", like the bull on the label and the talented young artist who painted it. Calcu is an exuberant wine with unrestrained possibilities that seeks to capture the expression of the diversity of the terroir of Chile's Colchagua Valley.


The Hurtado family planted vineyards at Viña Maquis in the Colchagua Valley of Chile during the early 20th century. In 2002, the family decided to make our own wine out of the terrific grapes in our own backyard. We built a gorgeous, state-of-the-art gravity flow winery and set out to make Maquis Lien, a "Super Chilean" blend using the vineyard’s best red grapes.
